Forward Testing Day 1 Complete

Today the students in attendance complete the first of two math tests that we will do this year to satisfy the state requirements in mathematics.

Based on student confidence levels I expect that the 6th grade students were well prepared by using our excellent math books made by Big Ideas Math.  The concepts seemed to flow well and the students commented that the problems were a similar style to the online assignments we complete.

I'm very happy to hear this.  I am confident that

student effort  +  quality straight forward instruction  =  success

Tomorrow there is an alternate schedule due to a school speaker and Friday will be day two of testing.

8.2 Surface Area

Today we are focusing more on surface area.  Remember the super special names we had for the sides: Top, Bottom, Left, Right, Front, and Back.  :)

Unless it's a triangular prism, then we only have five sides and we have to divide the triangles by 2 to find their area.

Here's a video to help if you want to see another perspective:

Monday we continue and also start building our city that will be 3D!
