Order of Operations

Today we're starting Order of Operations, also we were assigned our first homework assignment today.  It's practice 1.1 and 1.2 which focuses on long division and exponents.  Expect one take home assignment a week with any and all topics we've already covered.

Our homework had more Long Division, I was excited to see so many students know how to do this already.  The biggest struggles I saw were putting the wrong numbers up and having to redo the calculations and knowledge of basic math facts.  We'll get there.  I was also pleased to hear that some students told me, "This doesn't seem as hard as I thought it would be!"  Good stuff!

Couple of Days, no post

Wow!  The days are flying by!  We started off with whole number operations of all four varieties: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.  Our first homework assignment was due on those skills.

Also, we learned how to log into and use Khanacademy today, so that can always be used as an enrichment, review of prior skills, and just homework time if you want something to work on for a few minutes each evening.

Welcome to the blog, this a place where you'll be able to find out what we did or are going to do in class.  On the sides are links to different places that might help you learn.  Today we have three goals and we'll get as far as we can on them.

2. Go to https://bigideasmath.com/BIM/register and wait for the class code from Mr. Flaten.

3. If there is time we are going to try to log in to your www.khanacademy.org account and add Mr. Flaten as a teacher.

Tomorrow we'll go over rules and get started with our learning targets and standards.
